So let’s do a quick recap:
A National Victory at the Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards
On August 23rd, 2024, Wildflower Holistic Services was honoured to be named the national champion in the Health Improvement Services category at the Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards. Co-founders Alexandra and Rebecca proudly represented Wildflower at this prestigious event, held at The Star Sydney and hosted by 9 News and TODAY show journalist Jayne Azzopardi.
Competing against 33 other exceptional finalists in the Health Improvement Services category, this award is a testament to the dedication and passion we bring to our work every single day. As a proudly female-owned and led business, this recognition not only celebrates our achievements but also highlights the incredible power of women in business to drive meaningful change.
A Double Win at the Wollondilly Business Awards
On July 30th, 2024, our team attended the Local Business Awards, where we won both the Outstanding Health Improvement Services Award and the prestigious Wollondilly Business of the Year Award. These awards symbolise the unwavering support of our community and the profound impact we’re making locally.
What These Awards Mean to Us
As a business predominantly composed of women, winning these awards holds profound significance for us. It’s not just a testament to the strength of women but also amplifies female voices within the small business landscape. At Wildflower, we’re committed to providing employment opportunities where women’s skills are celebrated, where they’re empowered, and where the glass ceiling doesn't exist. We honour the women in our workplace by meeting them where they are on their life journey. We understand the immense pressures women face in today’s world—balancing family, careers, friendships, and everything in between. Creating a space where we hold room for all the challenges women navigate is something we’re incredibly proud of.
When we gathered to celebrate these wins as a team, we asked our team what this recognition meant to them. Here’s what they shared:
"These awards highlight the work we do that may not always be visible but is making a real impact. It shows that people value our approach to healthcare and recognise us as paving the way to a new, inclusive way."
"I feel honoured and grateful to be working alongside two amazing women whose passion and drive for change is truly inspiring."
"It’s inspiring and motivating to be part of a passionate team with aligned values and to always feel supported. It really shines through how authentic Wildflower is."
"I feel inspired by the two amazing ladies who had the dream and built it, and I’m grateful to be part of it and determined to keep making a difference."
"I’m grateful and honoured to be part of a team making a difference for a wider community."
"It’s inspiring to see the work our team does. These awards are recognition not just on a local level, but Australia-wide—the Wildflower movement is making a difference."
These reflections underscore how deeply our values and mission are embedded in our business and team. Everything we do stems from a place of deep connection and commitment to the Wildflower Way—a movement that challenges stereotypes and reshapes societal views on mental health and disability.
What This Means for Our Community:
To our wonderful community—what would we do without you? These awards belong to you as much as they belong to us. Why? Because every day, we welcome clients who share a piece of themselves with us. Your bravery in seeking help for yourself or your child is enormous, and you should never underestimate how incredible you are for taking those steps.
As Alex expressed in her acceptance speech at the Australian Women Small Business Awards: “Wildflowers grow in barren, dry, and adverse conditions, yet they bloom beautifully despite the challenges they face. Humans are similar—we all have struggles, but there’s so much beauty and something to treasure in each of us.” This win reflects not just our business and team, but all of you who strive for something more. We are honoured to be part of your journey.
What It Means to Be Part of the Wildflower Movement:
Being part of the Wildflower Movement isn’t just about accessing allied health services; it’s about joining a movement that’s redefining the landscape of mental health and disability. At Wildflower Holistic Services, we’re more than a practice—we’re a community of like-minded individuals united by a shared mission to make a difference.
When we asked our team to reflect on what it meant to win, we also reflected on our four core values - Nurture, Connect, Educate, and Empower— values that influence our actions and behaviour, and that are woven into every relationship we build and serve as the foundation for creating a ripple of positive change.
Nurturing the Whole Person: We see each individual as a unique tapestry of strengths and challenges, deserving of support that goes beyond the surface. By creating a space where you’re seen, valued and understood as a whole person, we’re fostering an environment where everyone has the opportunity to flourish.
As one of our team members shared, “Nurturing others, including our children and ourselves, is crucial for making everyone feel valued and loved. This nurturing approach is essential for achieving optimum health and is a cornerstone of our practice.”
Fostering Authentic Connections: Connection is at the heart of everything we do. We’re dedicated to building genuine relationships where you feel heard, understood, and celebrated.
“I love the value of connection and helping someone feel valued, seen, and heard, and the ongoing flow-on effects this has on their daily life, improving confidence, self-esteem, and general health and mood.” This sentiment from our team captures the heart of what we strive for—creating a community where everyone feels genuinely connected and supported.
Educating for Change: We believe in the power of education to transform societal perceptions. Through sharing knowledge and raising awareness, we aim to evolve the conversation around mental health and disability, not just for our clients but the wider community.
As one team member expressed: “I love spreading the word and increasing awareness. Through sharing knowledge and showing our clients why we are doing something in session. This then educates them and allows them to spread the word.”
Empowering Individuals: At Wildflowers, we’re here to help you navigate life’s complexities and advocate for your own well-being. By providing the tools and support you need, we empower you to embrace your unique journey and live authentically.
A team member shared: “The experience of feeling lost, overwhelmed, or dismissed is too often reported when meeting new clients/families. Empowering them to voice their needs and advocate for their wellbeing is so important with their health journey.” This empowerment is key to our mission, helping individuals take charge of their own health and well-being.
Being part of the Wildflower Movement means you want something better, something different. It means belonging to a community that stands with you, supports you, and cheers you on at every step of your journey. It’s about joining a collective effort to dismantle barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create a future where everyone is seen, heard, and celebrated. After all, if we aren’t striving for meaningful change in this world, what kind of future are we leaving behind?
Together, we’re creating a movement where every Wildflower—whether you’re a client, team member, or supporter—plays a vital role in making a difference. We’re grateful for each of you and honoured to have you with us as we continue this journey.
